William Brosi III, 89, of Hobart passed away Monday, Aug. 14, 2023 at home following a short illness.
Bill was born on March 24, 1934 in New York, New York, the son of the late William and Esther (Cleary) Brosi Jr. He was a graduate of Newtown High School and Farleigh-Dickinson College.
On January 22, 1955 he married the former Marilyn Schmidt, a blessed union of 68 years. In 1975 they moved to Hobart where they bought a farm and raised beef, chickens, and sheep over many years, and enjoyed every minute of it.
Bill was an accounting and business professor at SUNY Delhi. He also had a private accounting and financial services business for 66 years in Orange and later, Delaware counties retiring at the age of 85. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Hobart, Delaware River Lodge #439 F. & AM and Cornerstone Lodge #231 F. & A.M. Monroe, and the Hobart Fire Department.
Bill is survived by his loving family, his wife Marilyn Brosi, son William (Elizabeth) Brosi of Delhi; daughter Barb (Doug) Scheibling of Wallkill, son Timothy Brosi of Hobart, grandchildren Ryan, Dusty, Kylie, Megan, and Corbin, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandson, William Brosi V, brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Patricia Brosi and sister and brother-in-law Loretta and Jack Ryan.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 19, at 1 p.m. at the Hobart United Methodist Church, 204 Maple Avenue, Hobart.
Memorial contributions in William’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
