Shayne A. Moshier, 61, passed peacefully into the hands of his father Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023.

Born on April 4, 1962 in Delhi, Shayne was the son of Wendell “Moe” and Margaret (Brisbane) Moshier.

Shayne was a 1981 graduate of Andes Central School and went on to graduate from SUNY Cobleskill (Ag & Tech) in 1983.

He was a natural at machining, metal working and fabricating and he continued to develop this talent into one of the longest running businesses in Andes, RoMo Machine LLC, which he started as a teenager and continued to operate until his passing. Shayne loved serving his customers and built a great reputation. It was said “That if it was made of metal RoMo could build or fix it.”

Shayne was involved in almost every aspect of daily life of the Andes area. He was currently Deputy Town Supervisor, Past Fire Chief of the Andes Fire Dept., Vice President and a founding officer of the Catskill Mountain Antique Engine and Machinery Club, Vice President of Tremperskill Rod and Gun Club, the NRA, and the Delaware County and Andes Historical Societies. Shayne was very proud of his family’s history and their contributions during the Anti-Rent Conflict centered in the Andes area.

Though Shayne had no children of his own, he had many young people who thought of him as an Uncle, “Papa” and friend; he loved his friends as family and would do anything in his power to take care of his “people” and the town he loved so much. Often a figure that was “larger than life” Shayne would stand up for people’s rights and what he believed in. He also had a great love for animals and adopted several abused Rottweiler dogs over the years, many being right by his side to greet you at RoMo.

Shayne had many personal interests, collecting all sorts of things involving local history, cars, engines and machinery. He also was involved in tractor pulling and was working on a superstock tractor “Second Chance.” Shayne also was an advocate for Donate Life - as most know Shayne battled chronic kidney problems and without the help of Donate Life he would not have gotten the transplant he needed.

Besides his father, Shayne was predeceased by his grandparents, seven aunts, two uncles, brother-in-law B. Richard Fairbairn; and a nephew Dylan, along with several cousins.

Shayne is survived by his mother Margaret Moshier, his best friend and wife Tina M. Moshier; sister-in-law Beth Fairbairn, nieces and nephew Katelyn, Emily and Cory and their children, along with several cousins spread all over the country.

Friends and relatives are invited to a celebration of Shayne’s life from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at the Andes Fire Department Pavilion. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2, at the Andes Presbyterian Church.

Shayne’s burial will take place at a later date at Shavertown Cemetery, a place which he cared for and managed for many years.

Contributions in memory of Shayne may be made to the Andes EMS, PO Box 475, Andes, NY 13731 or to the Heart of the Catskills Humane Society, PO Box 88, Delhi, NY 13753.
