Ruth W. Ferraro, 71, of Downsville passed away Wednesday night, July 12, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Ruth was born Oct. 11,1951 in Bayreuth, Germany, the daughter of the late Geza Szirandi and Kunigunde Bayer. On Feb. 21,1971, she married Angelo Ferraro in Queens. He died June 25, 2017.
Ruth worked as a cleaner at the Downsville Post Office before fully retiring. She spent a lot of her time taking care of her late husband whom she loved dearly, making sure he lived a quality life. She enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino with Angelo, playing bingo, watching and playing along with Jeopardy every night. Ruth also read the news and gave updates to everyone. Most of all she loved being a wife, mother and grandmother - she loved watching her granddaughter Gianna grow up - she was her heart. Family was everything to her. Ruth was a special person, a one-of-a-kind, fun-loving soul whose presence lit up every room.
Ruth is survived by her loving family, children, Anthony (Catherine) Ferraro of Calif., Daniel Ferraro of New Jersey and Jennifer (Alex) Pagan of Walton; grandchildren Kaitlyn Ferraro, Gianna Pagan and Dakota Ferraro; brother Christian Weber of Pennsylvania, sisters Christine Weber-Niedermeyer of Pennsylvania, Ellen Szirandi-Schmalleger of Florida, sisters-in-law Antonietta Weber of Pennsylvania, Josephine Realmuto of Downsville, brother-in-law Sal Rubino of Washingtonville, and many nieces and nephews - too many to name.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband Angelo Ferraro, brothers Herman and John Weber, sister Angelika Szirandi-Varsik, and sister-in-law Anna Rubino.
Family and friends were invited to call Tuesday, July 18 at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton where services were held with Fr. Edward J. Golding, celebrant. Burial followed in Paige Cemetery, Route 30, Downsville.
