Phyllis Schiippel

Phyllis Ann (Trask) Schiippel, 85, of New Milford, Pa., formerly of Walton, went home to be with the Lord peacefully at home on July 30, 2021 after a long period of physical decline due to Alzheimer’s. Phyllis was born June, 1936 in Walton. She married her husband, Heinz, on April 10, 1965 at the Readburn Church.

She was predeceased by her husband Heinz Schiippel; parents Leon and Ruth (Perkins) Trask; and brother Leon “Sonny” Trask. 

Phyllis is survived by her children Richard Schiippel of Walton, and Heidi and Rev. Mark Stento of New Milford, Pa.; grandchildren Alexander, Derek, and Rachel Stento; sister Linda Trask; sister-in-law Gertrude Trask; several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Phyllis was a graduate of Hancock Central School 1953 and Edinburgh University in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in education. She was a kindergarten teacher for several years. She was also a proofreader for the Walton Reporter. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved reading, writing, hunting, gardening, and researching her family genealogy and helping on the family farms.

She was a long-time member of the Pines Brook Baptist church and later a member of the South New Milford Baptist church. 

Arrangements were handled by Hennessey’s Funeral Home, Inc. Susquehanna, PA. 

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Revolutionary Hospice for their excellent care of Phyllis. 

A graveside Service will be held in the Walton Cemetery, Walton, at a later date.
