Born on April 16, 1927 in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Olin and Susan (Bowker) McClenon.

Marian had a strong faith in God and was active in her church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going for long car rides in the country, reminiscing about family history, taking train rides, watching game shows, watching the Andy Griffith Show, playing games, doing crossword puzzles and word searches. She enjoyed the Delaware County Fair and going through the mobile home displays. In her younger years, she bowled and was a member of the Neighbors bowling team. She loved country music. She and her husband often traveled to Echo Lake State Park on Sunday afternoons to listen to country music concerts. In her elder years, she enjoyed going on various bus trips with her daughter. One of the highlights of her life was taking a trip to Nashville with her husband, son and daughter-in-law. Her favorite color was blue. Her favorite candy was Reese’s peanut butter cups. Her favorite drinks were Sanka and root beer. Marian was known for her peanut butter balls, fudge and peanut brittle which she generously shared with family, friends, the church and the community, especially at Christmas time. In her younger years, she worked beside her husband in stone quarries learning to cut stone. She had stone cutting tools that were made especially for her. She worked for a number of years at Doris’ Restaurant in Roscoe in the kitchen and was known for her pies. She also worked at Eureka Tent factory in Walton. She will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to know her.

On May 6, 1944, Marian married Philip Lamont Cole in Cannonsville. The two were married for 54 years before he passed in 1998.
