J. Phillip Lewis, 82, of Walton passed away Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023 at home, following a long illness.

Phil was born June 12, 1941 in Gilboa, the son of the late Wendell and Jessie Louise (Hitchcock) Lewis. On Sept. 21, 1974 he married the former Marilynn Conklin in Walton.

Phil was a service technician for Suburban Propane in Walton for many years. He was a former member of the Walton Fire Department, Walton Zoning Board, and the NRA. Phil enjoyed woodworking and making maple syrup in his spare time as he could not sit still for long.

Phil is survived by his loving family, his wife, Marilynn, children Duane (Kathleen) Lewis of Palm Coast, Fla., Kim (Ross) Pino of Indiantown, Fla., and Michael (Misty) Lewis of Sidney; stepchildren Randy Bishop, New Mexico and Lorilynn and Keith Bennett, North Carolina; grandchildren Karissa and Neal, Zackery and Ashlie, Kylie and Patrick, Bradley and Kate, Arian and Jacob, Kaylen, Korinne, Everett and Marisa; great-grandchildren Zackery, Dylan, Cole, Jade, Owen and Ellie, sister Laura Morgenstern, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Thomas and Vicky Conklin, and daughter-in-law Jessica Bishop of Worcester.

He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Robert Conklin.

Family and friends are invited to call Thursday, Aug. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Aug. 11, at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton, with Pastor David George, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
