Carlyle R. “Carl” Williams, 77, of Walton, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. 

Carl was born Oct. 23, 1944 in Walton, the son of the late Ian O. and Joyce M. (Schlafer) Williams. Carl worked over 30 years for S.J. Bailey and Sons in Walton as a furniture assembler and continued to work for the company after they moved the business to Carbondale, Pa. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1963 to 1969. Carl enjoyed cutting stone and firewood. For many years he mowed lawns in the Walton area. He enjoyed tinkering with older cars and motors. In his spare time he loved watching dirt track racing, tractor pulls, demolition derbies and NASCAR races at Pocono Speedway. Carl was a regular at T.A.’s where he enjoyed small talk and being catered to by the waitresses. 

Carl is survived by his loving family, his son Karl Williams, daughter Erica (Kevin) Charles, all of Walton; grandchildren Hannah, Brett, Allison and Payton, brother Wayne (Theresa) Williams of Hobart, sister-in-law Lindy Williams of Bainbridge; aunts Frances Watson, Leona (John) Poulin, Kathleen “Kappie” Benson and Nina Schlafer, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend, Betty Brundege and her family. 

He was predeceased by his sister Charlene Mills and brother, Ian Williams. 

Graveside services will be private and at the convenience of the family. 

A celebration of Carl’s life will be held at the home of Kevin and Erica Charles, 16030 State Highway 206, Walton, Saturday, Aug. 6, at noon with a memorial service at 1 p.m. by Pastor Larry Light. A reception will immediately follow. All are welcome to attend.
