Carl MacGibbon of Walton, passed away Aug. 27, 2023 at Chestnut Park in Oneonta, following a long illness.
Carl was born June 1, 1954 in Walton to Glenn and Audrey (Cole) MacGibbon.
Carl graduated from Walton Central School in 1973. After graduation he worked many years at S.J. Baily & Sons, Walton. He also worked as a custodian at Walton Central School. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed volunteering as an usher at the North Street door and rarely missed a Sunday. Prior to his illness, he was employed as the church groundskeeper, mowing the lawn in the summer, and shoveling the sidewalks in the winter.
Carl is survived by his mother, Audrey MacGibbon of Walton, sisters Vicky Walsh, Raleigh, N.C. and Sandy Tallman (Kurt), Essex, Vermont; nephews Billy Walsh (Jessica), Raleigh, N.C., Sean Kelly (Kendra), Walton, nieces Emily Walsh, Raleigh, N.C., Casey Kelly (Kristie) Salisbury, N.C., Kaitlin Slowick (Dan) Worcester, Mass., and Sarah Morgan (Henry), Carlsbad, Calif., great-nieces and great-nephews Alexandra, Jackson, Carter, Chase, Lennox, Jazlyn, Payton, Huck, Holt, Kylee, Levi, Kendyll and Korbyn, and several cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Glenn MacGibbon, and his sister, Patty Kelly.
Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the United Presbyterian Church, 58 East Street, Walton, where services will be held at 12 noon with Pastor Paul Huh, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton.
The family would like to thank the staff at Chestnut Park for the care given to Carl over the past two years. They appreciate the cards Carl received and everyone who visited him during his time there.
