William G. Agnew

William G. Agnew, 83, of Johnson City formerly of Walton, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 13, 2023 at home.

William was born Jan. 5, 1940 in Newburgh, the son of the late William G. and Viola (Wygant) Agnew. He was predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Noreen (Davidson) Agnew on April 29, 2014.

William graduated from the National School of Meat Cutting in Toledo, Ohio in 1960. He worked in civil service for the Air Force at Stewart Field in Newburgh and for the Army at West Point U.S.M.A. where he was a supervisor. He also worked for the Office of Secret Investigation. He worked a second job as the evening meat manager at the Thruway Market in Walden for ten years. After retiring from civil service William worked for Pasco Detective Agency in Hudson, Fla. He drove a bus for Walton School District, and in 1995 was evening supervisor for Morrisville Branch Campus, Morrisville.

William was an avid sportsman - he loved fishing, hunting, and baseball.

Most of all he loved his family, friends and pets. He always said the woods was his true home. This comes from his Indian blood.

William is survived by his loving family, his three daughters, Alycia VanBuren and Alan of Sidney Center, Lynda Preston and Scott of Florida and Judy Agnew of Binghamton; grandchildren Lee diLorenzo and Ethan diLorenzo of North Carolina, Christopher Preston of Florida, Julia VanBuren of Westchester, and Eli VanBuren of Franklin, and two great-grandchildren, Delaney and Aurora diLorenzo of North Carolina, and his special friend Jackie Harper of Johnson City.
