Ronda L. Williams of Walton announced her candidacy for Delaware County Treasurer Jan. 20. With over 30 years of experience as a tax collector, Williams said she is exceptionally qualified for the role. She understands the critical duties of the treasurer’s office, she said, including tax collection, property tax preparation, corrections, managing delinquencies, and overseeing estate sales. Her years of working with the treasurer’s office has provided her with insight into the processes, computer software implementation, and laws essential for success in this position. Her responsible financial background, combined with her leadership style, she said, has enabled her to thrive in various public positions.
As the Walton town clerk for 20 years, she earned the title of registered municipal clerk. During her tenure, she excelled as registrar, bookkeeper, budget preparer, and notary public, establishing a strong reputation for trust and credibility, she said.
Her responsible financial management, along with her ability to adapt to evolving software, sets her apart.
She was instrumental in founding the Delaware County Tax Collector’s Association, where she served as president. She has been an active member of the Delaware County Town Clerk’s Association, also holding the presidency.
Her leadership skills extend to 12 years on the Walton Central School Board, including five years as president, where she effectively managed public funds while serving on the finance and facilities committees and advocating for students’ education.
She is committed to ensuring financial accuracy, responsibility, and efficiency in all areas, she said, and is ready to leverage her experience and leadership to make a significant impact as Delaware County treasurer. She looks forward to voter support on June 24.
