Catskill Mountain Club October Hiking Schedule

Posted

The Catskill Mountain Club is offering a series of member-led hikes across the Catskills in October and early November, with routes ranging from established trails to a bushwhack in the West Kill Mountain area.

The 22-year-old grassroots nonprofit organizes free hiking, paddling and biking outings and advocates for nonmotorized outdoor recreation throughout the region.

The schedule includes the annual Lark in the Park, running Oct. 3-12, with a 10-day lineup of hikes and other events. Details are available at catskillslark.org.

Other outings include hikes to Indian Head and Twin mountains on Oct. 10; the Huckleberry Loop on Oct. 12; Bangle Hill and the Blue Hole on Oct. 14; and a West Kill bushwhack from Diamond Notch on Oct. 17.

Later in the month, the club plans outings at Little Spring Brook and Pelnor Hollow trails on Oct. 18, Rochester Hollow on Oct. 21, and the Mongaup Trails Loop on Oct. 28.

Two outings are scheduled for Nov. 1: Vly and Bearpen, with Halcott planned for the afternoon, and a loop at Mongaup Pond.

The club’s published schedule also lists a Beech Hill hike to Little Spring Brook Road on Oct. 14.

Because start and end times in the schedule vary, participants should consult the club’s event listings for details, directions and any updates before setting out.
