Virginia E. ”Ginny” Sherman, 81, of Walton passed away Monday, Oct. 3, 2022 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, following a long illness.

Ginny was born on Dec. 11, 1940 in Seneca Falls, the daughter of the late Earl and Eunice (Woodford) McCann. She moved to Walton as a young child and graduated from Walton High School, class of 1959. On Sept. 17, 1961 she married William H. Sherman in Walton. He died on May 27, 1990.

She was predeceased by six brothers, two sisters, her Aunt Ella and Uncle Pete Higley who raised her, and her beloved dachshund, Snickers.

Family and friends are invited to call Thursday, Oct. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. A graveside service will be held Friday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Larry Light, officiating.
