Video: Town of Walton increases building permit fees, Dec. 11, 2023

WALTON - Walton council members met Monday, Dec. 13, and unanimously voted to increase its building permit fees, upon the recommendation of its code enforcement officer. Fees have not been increased since 2009.

New building permit fees are scheduled to take effect Jan. 1, 2024. Fees include:

• $300 for a site-built or modicular home

• $125 for a singlewide mobile/manufactured home; $150 for a doublewode  and $200 if placed on a full foundation.

• $100 for additions on exisiting structures uo to 100 square feet

• $50 for a carport

• $100 for a pole building

• $50 for a storage shed measuring 145 square feet or more

• $100 for renovation costing up to $1,000

• $50 for a fireplace, woodstove, furnace, boiler o chimney

• $50 for a new septic system

• $100 for an inground swimming pool, $75 for an above-ground swimming pool

• $75 for “roofing”

• $25 for “miscelleanous;” among other fees.

A permit fee could double if work begins with a permit, the regulations state.
