Sharlene (Smith) Mann, age 83, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2022, in Boynton Beach, Fla. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Sharlene is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Charles L. Mann Jr., son Michael C. Mann, daughter Michele M. Prince, and five grandchildren - Noah, Rachel, Nicolas, Samuel and Anthony.

Sharlene was born in Walton on May 28, 1938, to Harold R. and Florence (Belknap) Smith. She attended Walton Central High School and was a member of the Class of 1956. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ithaca College in 1960, with a bachelor of science degree in physical therapy. Sharlene lived with her family in Hamburg from 1971-2016. During that time, she worked for Western New York Physical Therapy, Orchard Park Healthcare, and Hamburg Healthcare until she retired.

Sharlene enjoyed singing and was a member of the Sweet Adelines Chorus in Western New York, a member of the choir at the Wesleyan Church in Hamburg, and Full Gospel Tabernacle in Orchard Park. Sharlene continued to grow her family when she became active with Catholic Charities and Lutheran Services, hosting Vietnamese refugees from 1982-1990. Sharlene and Charles backpacked across Europe in 1985 and completed a mission trip to China in 1988.

Sharlene was a poodle enthusiast and worked as a volunteer at the Poodle National Convention in Salisbury, Maryland, for almost a decade. She also enjoyed working with her own poodles in agility training. Sharlene enjoyed camping during retirement and traveled throughout the continental United States and Alaska (missing only the state of North Dakota). Sharlene and Charles eventually settled in South Florida.

If desired, friends may make a donation in Sharlene’s honor to the Michael J. Fox Foundation which is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease (michaeljfox.org).
