Scott Dietz Ostrander, beloved husband, father, brother, Grampy, uncle, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2022, in Cocoa Beach, Fla.

He was born on Dec. 24, 1946, in Fish’s Eddy, to Harold and Shirley Ostrander. He married Cheryll Wurfer in 1967. His first eight years of school were in the Fish’s Eddy two-room schoolhouse. He graduated from Hancock Central School in 1964. He worked most of his life at the Delaware County Highway Department until he retired in 2001.

He enjoyed playing baseball, softball, golf, bowling, hunting, snowmobile racing, and spending time with family and friends. He was an active community member, where he coached Little League baseball and worked at the local golf courses. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit, incredible memory, and love of the New York Yankees and Cleveland Browns.

He is preceded by his parents, Harold and Shirley Ostrander, and his sister Vicki Warner.

Scott is survived by his wife Cheryll of 54 years; his sister Robin (Gary) Arnoldine; three children, Rebecca (Ostrander) Brownell, Jodi (Paul) Decker, Scot (Karen) Ostrander; seven grandchildren, Chase Brownell, Taylor Decker, Paige Brownell, Tierney Ticknor, Mckeyli Decker, Elizabeth Ostrander, and Parker Ostrander; and two great-grandchildren Hayven and Maddox; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him. A memorial service will take place later in the spring.
