Ronald E. McAdams, 83, of Walton, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 31, 2020 at UHS Wilson Medical Center following a long illness.

Born on Dec. 6, 1936 in Walton, he was the son of the late Elmer and Frances Budine McAdams.

On April 14, 1962 Ron married his beloved wife Lodema Matthews.

Ronald proudly served our country in the Army. He was employed with NYS Department of Transportation as a foreman for over 30 years. Ronald enjoyed taking bus trips with his wife to different parts of the United States. Ron loved most sports and was an avid sports fan of the Walton Central School sports programs, especially football and basketball. He was also a coach in the early years of the Walton Little League Football Program. Ron was also an honorary member of the Walton Fire Department, Company Five serving the community for over 25 years.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Lodema Matthews McAdams; brother William “Bill” McAdams; sister Joan Caruso; sisters-in-law Doris (Dodie) McAdams, Barbara Condon, Susan Matthews; brothers-in-law Robert “Bob” Matthews, Gary Matthews and Julian Sherwood. Ron is also survived by several nieces and nephews. 

He is predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Frances McAdams; sister, Bonnie MacDonald; brothers-in-law Joe Caruso, John MacDonald, Douglas Condon, Leroy Desilva and Louis Dibble; sisters-in-law Doris Desilva, Patricia Sherwood and Gail Dibble.

A graveside service to celebrate Ronald’s life will be held on Thursday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m. at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton with Rev. Dr. Janet Schwengber officiating.

Memorial donations in Ronald’s memory may be made to the Walton Fire Department and Emergency Squad, 61 West Street, Walton, NY 13856 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
