Paul W. Goebel Sr.

Paul W. Goebel Sr., 84, of Hancock, died on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023 surrounded by his children and oldest granddaughter. He was reunited with his true love, Vivian, who went before him and who he missed tremendously. 

Paul was born on March 31, 1939 in Cadosia, the son of Fredrick P. and Nola (Capwell) Goebel.

Paul was a U.S. veteran, serving in the Air Force. He was a lifelong member of the Read Valley Fish and Game Club, where he was the president for over 25 years. Paul was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved his western shows. He worked construction in the tunnels and retired as a truck driver and manager from UPS.

Surviving are five children: Cindy (Brian) Hazen, Tina (Robert) Mesmer, Paul W. Jr. (Heidi Stout), Crystal Maguire, and Butch 

Burdick; nine grandchildren: Rachel, Emmy-Jo, Steven, Jacquelyn, Lucas, Jasper, Declan, Pacey and Ella; four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Donald (Ethel) Goebel; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Paul was predeceased by his parents, and sister Pearl.

Paul’s wishes were to be cremated and there will be a private family gathering at a later date to honor Paul and Vivian.
