Nancy A. Condon, 78, of Walton passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020 following a long illness.
Nancy was raised in Walton and graduated from Walton Central Schools Class of 1959. She was a devoted member of the Class of 1959 and meet her former classmates monthly for lunch. Following high school, Nancy attended Orange County Community College for a year to earn her degree in Pharmaceutical Studies. On December 2, 1961 she married her beloved husband Ronald A. Condon. Nancy stayed home and raised her five wonderful, talented, beautiful, and scholarly children before going to work for Walton Central School. The same day she dropped her youngest off at Kindergarten. She worked as a school monitor for the district and was a longtime bowling coach, winning countless sectional and league championships for both boys and girls. Nancy was adored by hundreds of Walton Central School students over the years and was willing to lend an ear, give advice, cut a break and be a supporter. She had a tremendous sense of humor and could bring a smile to anyone’s face, enjoyed riding around town, visiting with her friends and spending the cold months of her retirement in Myrtle Beach. Nancy never bought a regular prices item in her life, coupons and discounts were some of her best friends. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Walton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She will be dearly missed by her childhood friend and “sister” Gay Bowker, whose 70 plus year friendship was cherished dearly.
Nancy is survived by her loving family, children, Michael (Margaret) Condon, Stephen Condon, Deborah (Robert) Babcock, Tom (Melissa) Condon and Joe (Chrissy) Condon all of Walton; brother John (Suzanne) Marsico of Walton; grandchildren, Meaghan, Brandon, Noah, Owen, Jessica, Kolt, Anna, Sarah, Amanda, Christopher, Jordan and Morgan and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Nancy is predeceased by her beloved husband Ronald A. Condon who passed away February 3, 2015 and her parents John and Doris Budine Marsico.
Calling hours to which relatives and friends were invited to attend were Sunday, Jan. 12, at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. A Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, Jan. 13 at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 25 Benton Avenue, Walton with the Rev. Edward J. Golding officiating. Please assemble at church. Burial at Walton Cemetery will be held in the spring at a day and time to be announced.
