Lois B. McDonald

Lois B. McDonald, 91, a Hamden resident since 1955, passed away on Saturday morning, May 1, 2021 at her home following a long illness. 

Born on February 14, 1930 in the Town of Meredith, Lois was the daughter of the late Harold and Ethel (Smith) Bryden. 

Lois worked for over 27 years at the former Grand Union Supermarket in Delhi, she also did housework for several area families, worked at the former Robinson Bros. Auction Service and was Treasurer for the Town of Hamden Water District. 

She was active in the community and was a member of the Ham Del Bells Craft Club, Merry Eight Pinochle Club, Chambers Hollow Craft Club, Del Rebecca Lodge and the Gilbertsville Grange, and was on the executive committee for the Delaware County Home Bureau. 

Lois was also an active member of the Hamden Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder for several years. 

Besides her parents, Lois was predeceased by her husbands: Richard Currie, Earl Sanderson and William McDonald; a son: Robert Currie; brothers: Jake Bryden, Harold D. Bryden and Roscoe Bryden; and sister: Linda Fowlston.

She is survived by her children: Richard and Sherry Bryden, Dennise and Mike Yeary,  Charles Currie, Sr. and Robert and Cerise Rykowski; daughter-in-law: Gail Currie; stepson: Richard and Deb McDonald; sister: Edith Burn; sister-in-law: Chris Bryden; brother-in-law: George Fowlston; grandchildren: James Yeary, Michele and Micah Reynolds, Chris Yeary, Jason Bryden, Kim and Jack Gaylord, Tera and Rich Talbot, Bryn Currie and Charles and Jen Currie, Jr.; great-grandchildren: Cody, Kendra, Kelsey and Chance Reynolds, Brooke and Carter Currie and Eliana Gaylord; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Hamden Presbyterian Church, Hamden.  Burial will follow at the Hamden Cemetery.
