Jessica “Jackie” Houck, passed away peacefully at home following a short illness on April 24, 2020.
Jackie was born in Downsville on May 29, 1927, to George and Ella Goetschius.
Mom was a lifetime member of the Downsville community. She was a cafeteria cook at the school for many years. She loved sewing, crafts, gardening and traveling. She lived a very social life: she was an active member in her church and the local senior citizens group, and was selected Senior Citizen of the Year in 2017. One of her favorite sayings was “I’ve got places to go and things to do.” This was evident through many of her world travels.
Jackie was predeceased by her sons Jerry and Stan Houck; daughter Loni Markert; daughters-In-law Vicki Houck and Beverly Houck; and grandson Vaughn Houck.
She was survived by her sons Danny (Gloria) Houck, George Houck, and Darryl Houck and her sister Peggy Carr. She was also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be dearly missed by family, friends and community members.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
