Jack Wayne Elderkin, 72, of Walton passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born on March 21, 1948 in Walton, he was the son of the late Maynard and Betty (LaFrano) Elderkin.

Jack showed quarter horses on the national level for 35 years. He accumulated numerous national honors with the stock that he showed. Jack retired from the horse industry in 2006, and pursued his passion for showing cars. He was honored with numerous national awards and articles in magazines. Jack’s passion for his cars led to an annual cruise in/car show at the Unadilla Drive In on the last Sunday of July, which he organized. This event donated to cancer charities and instituted a program for special awards to recognize our Veterans. Plans are to continue the tradition that he loved. Jack always presented what he believed in with either industry and showed that his feelings guided him in the correct direction.

Jack also had a passion for hunting. He enjoyed the time that he spent during the seasons with his son, Tracy; nephew, Eric Hobbie and his son Bryce Hobbie; great-nephew, Zach Wilbur and best friend, Rick Sparling.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Catherine Elderkin; his son, Tracy Elderkin (Christine Poole); daughter Shelly Howell (Tim); five grandchildren, Steven Elderkin, Ashley Fikes, Braxton and Owen Howell, Sierra Turner; siblings, Donna Thompson, Sherry Hobbie (Bill); numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Tina M. Turner; brother, Thomas Elderkin and his parents, Maynard and Betty Elderkin.

There will be no services at this time.
