WHITNEY POINT – Delhi/South Kortright’s cross country team put on a strong showing at the Whitney Point Invitational Tuesday, Oct. 22, with multiple top finishes in both the girls’ and boys’ races.
In the varsity girls’ 5K, Aurelia Comer led the way, clinching first place with a time of 21:17, pacing the race at 6:51 per mile. Teammates Lilly McGonigal and Abi Tessier followed with strong performances, finishing fourth (22:19) and seventh (22:52), respectively. Elsa Marigliano secured a top-15 finish, coming in 12th with a time of 23:38, while Daphne Vasilakis rounded out the top 20 for Delhi/South Kortright, crossing the line in 24:21.
The boys’ team also had a standout day, with Nelson VanMaaren claiming second place in the 5K, clocking in at 18:04 and setting a brisk pace of 5:49 per mile. Jaden Lewis finished sixth at 19:14, followed closely by Latham Gielskie in ninth (19:32). Jason VanMaaren and Langston Comer both placed in the top 20, finishing 11th (19:41) and 17th (20:17), respectively.
