FRANKLIN - A Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputy, patrol division, Tyler J. McAteer, 31, Franklin, was arrested by Sidney State Police March 6, and charged with official misconduct, a class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail.

The charge stems from a March 6 complaint of sex offenses according to the New York State Police website.

McAteer has been placed on administrative leave without pay, according to Sheriff Craig DuMond, pending a formal investigation. “I am shocked and disappointed as this arrest reflects poorly upon the honor and excellent work that our men and women do every day to valiantly serve our community with integrity and pride,” DuMond said.

DuMond stated he will take swift, decisive appropriate action following the investigation.
