DelCo GOP chairperson has county Republican support

Posted

I write to take issue with the unbelievably negative headline and story put together by the editor of your newspaper on the new chairperson of the Delaware County Republican Committee, Katie Taggart. You completely ignored in this article the steps she has taken to rehabilitate herself and to become a valued member of our community as a wife, mother, businessperson and now our new chairperson. In an exchange of emails, your editor has defended the right of the public to know. I do not dispute that. But to dwell only on the negative and to omit the positive leaves the reader with the wrong impression, somehow that the Republican party is evil for electing a felon as chairperson. We see Katie as a dynamic young woman and someone who will take care of the nuts and bolts of running our party. We all know that there are currently fissures in the national party and our committee has its own divisions. But we have come together in electing a new chairperson and give her our unconditional support. She is among a new generation of leaders in the region as reported by your paper in the same edition this article appeared, a generation that will lead us to reverse the sorry governance of our state and change the direction of this country under Republican leadership.
