David L. Roberts, East Branch, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center following a long illness.
Born August 20, 1938 in Walton, he was a son of the late Frances (Jack) and Dorothy (McClennon) Roberts.
David joined the National Guard as junior in high school and after graduation served his country in the U.S. Navy. He began his electronics career at Walton TV and later opened his own business, Dave’s TV, which he owned and operated for 37 years. Even after closing that business he continued work as a bus driver for the ARC and Rolling V until 2017. In his younger years, David enjoyed camping, drag racing, customizing cars and trucks. In his later years, he enjoyed bird watching with his wife, building birdhouses, and long walks around the Delaware and Beaverkill Rivers with his dogs.
Survivors include his wife Cordelia (Dee Eggler) Roberts of East Branch; sons Michael (Amanda) of Washington, D.C. and Shawn (Shaun) of St. Augustine, Fla.: daughter Jennifer Hutkowski (Paul) of Pittsford; his step-children Gary Eggler of East Branch and Kelly (Eggler) Leonard of Elmira; his grandchildren Lily, Andy, Tim and Zach of Pittsford; Owen and Emmet of New Hope, Pa., his step-grandchildren Marsha Leonard, Heather Beach, and Alicia Persbacker, as well as 13 great-grandchildren and brothers Edward Roberts of Gloversville and James Roberts of Callicoon.
David is predeceased by his brother Donald (Rabbit) Roberts and his step-grandson, Tony Eggler.
An outdoor memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 18; details to follow.
