Churches celebrate Earth Day May 5

Posted

The United Presbyterian Church in East Guilford and the First Presbyterian Church of Bainbridge will celebrate Sunday, Earth Day May 5. The East Guilford congregation has received certification as an Earth Care Congregation for the 14th year and each year celebrates the designation with a special service.

The worship service will be held at 10 a.m. at the East Guilford church on the corner of Chenango County Route 35 and New York State Route 8, just north of Sidney.

The focus this year will be “Plastic Jesus” and  will include ideas on ways to reduce plastics in our lives. Following worship, friends and neighbors are invited to a meal at a taco and taco salad bar as it’s Cinco de Mayo. Participants may bring something to share for the taco bar as well as their own reusable table service. It is asked that no plastic be used for the table service or shared dishes. Drinks and desserts will be provided and the tables will be set with cloth tablecloths and napkins.
