Carolyn J. Gelo, 80, of Bainbridge, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at Cooperstown Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Carolyn was born Feb. 12, 1943 in Bainbridge, and spent most of her life in the greater Sidney area. She graduated from Sidney High School in 1961. She worked very hard all her life, but found time to enjoy crocheting, crafting and cooking. She left a legacy of children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren who were very loved with whom she was proud. She enjoyed the companionship of her many pets over the years.
Carolyn was predeceased by her parents Donald and Katherine Laraway; two grandsons Daran Morris and Tyler Daniel Hornbeck.
She is survived by her sister Linda (Gary) Scott, brother Dennis (Diane) Laraway; children Dawn (John) Giannone, Ronald Spencer, Michael (Toni) Spencer, and Debbie (Gregory) Comen; grandchildren Maris and Chloe; Brooke, Trevor, Finnley, Misty and Bradley Spencer; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service in the spring at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.
