The Hobart Rotary Club will host a waste-reduction talk on Oct. 1 with Chris and Cindy Burger of Whitney Point, from 10 a.m. - noon, at the United Methodist Church, 204 Maple Ave., Hobart.
The Burgers are self-proclaimed household waste-reduction experts, eager to share their knowledge. The couple decided on Earth Day in 1970 that they would dedicate their lives to helping save the planet by reducing their waste. It took 20 years to perfect their methods but they succeeded. Since 1990, while raising a family of three daughters, they have produced a mere four-pounds of waste.
