Wreaths Across America Day in Roscoe Dec. 14

Posted

Volunteers are working to ensure that veterans laid to rest in three Roscoe area cemeteries – Westfield Flats, Riverview and Beaverkill - are honored in December on National Wreaths Across America Day. Roscoe will be one of more than 4,700 locations to participate in the national event Saturday, Dec. 14, at noon.

The Roscoe ceremony will be held at the Westfield Flats Cemetery, 1955 Old Route 17. The ceremony will bring the community together in patriotic commemoration, and volunteers will place wreaths in all three locations.

The event is open to the public. Veterans, active-duty military and their families as well as the local community are invited and encouraged to attend.

The mission of  Wreaths Across America is to remember the fallen, honor those that serve, and teach the next generation the value of freedom.

The Wreaths for Roscoe campaign asks for community and business support. Each wreath sponsorship costs $17. The sponsorship goes toward a fresh balsam wreath to be placed on the headstone of an American hero as we endeavor to honor veterans laid to rest at the Westfield Flats, Riverview, and Beaverkill Cemeteries. Wreaths Across America is the non-profit organization best known for placing wreaths on the headstones of our nation’s fallen at Arlington National Cemetery.
