William  “Bill” Scott Robertson Jr., beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Dec. 3, 2024, at the age of 96. He was born in Brooklyn on Jan, 16, 1928 to William Scott Robertson Sr. and Nellie (Bailey) Robertson.

While participating as chaplain at a church gathering, William first laid eyes upon the love of his life, Olive Malcolm. They were married on March 3, 1951 during a blizzard in Brooklyn, and were married for 70 years until her passing in 2021.

Bill and Olive welcomed their first son, Keith Malcolm into their loving care in 1952. He was expected to live only a few weeks, but went on to live 35 wonderful years. Bill was a loving presence and fierce protector of Keith all of his life.

Bill began his United Methodist ministerial journey 63 years ago. Throughout the years, he served in various church communities beginning in Rifton, NY and ending with a loving congregation in White Sulphur Springs. He took great pride in spreading the word of God to both adults and children. His door was always open to anyone in need and his personable approach made all people feel loved and accepted. He had a genuine interest in working with the United Methodist Youth Fellowship and could always be counted on to participate in fun, outdoor activities with them. Upon retirement, Bill moved to be near his family in Walton where he worked as a part-time pastor at the Plymouth Church.

Bill was an amazing father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a steady presence in the lives of his children and expressed his adoration for them frequently. His children feel blessed to have experienced his love and affection for so many years. Poppy was adored by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren for always being silly and having a fun-loving sense of humor. He will be remembered by all of his family for his giving nature, wisdom, and love for others.

William is survived by his loving family, daughter Christine Shillieto (Gordon); son, Lyle Robertson; granddaughter, Noelle Granger (Kristian); grandson, Ian Conkling (Amanda); great-grandchildren, Gavin and Jaxen Granger and Rowan and Oban Conkling.

William is predeceased by his parents, his loving wife Olive; his beloved son Keith; and siblings, Margaret DeLuisi, Kenneth and John Robertson.

Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024 from 1-2 p.m. at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. A service to celebrate William’s life will follow at the funeral home at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Lisa Mays officiating. A private burial will be held in the spring for both William and Olive at Walton Cemetery.

In the quiet moments of reflection, we remember William’s gentle nature, his love for life, and the profound impact he had on his family and friends. His journeys, not just through the streets of life, but through the hearts of those he loved, will remain a beautiful testament to the man he was.
