“Last Wednesday, Sept. 9, we head downpours between 10 and 11 p.m. and at 2 a.m. in the morning. And it gave us 63/100ths of an inch of precipitation. Thursday, Sept. 10, was a nice day. It hit 78 in the afternoon and then it dropped to 54 during the night. Friday, Sept. 11, was a fall day because we only hit 71 degrees.
You woke up on Saturday morning, Sept. 12, and it was 45. And then we had thunderstorms during the night, especially between about 11 and 12:30. And then we just had heavy rain for the rest of the night. Another 1 1/4 inches of rain fell, and it was still raining when I called in to the National Weather Service. Sunday, Sept. 13, we had an additional 26/100ths of an inch of rain. So what that meant was on Monday the 14th, we had all the rain for the entire month of September, already having fallen outside.
And what that really means is anything that we get from now until the end of September is extra. Monday, Sept. 14, started at 55, but it was a real fall day. You needed a sweatshirt because it only hit 65 degrees. And then on Tuesday, Sept. 15, you woke up, and when I got outside, you could still see your breath at 39 degrees. We did get to 69 and we had sun. It wasn’t really a bad day at all, and Wednesday there was a chance of showers. Then it’s going to just be cloudy. Thursday, Sept. 17, there is a chance of showers. We’re going to call the next five days after that unsettled. Friday, Sept. 18 might be the only day it’s going to be really nice out there. And then it’s going to be a chance of showers or downpours Saturday, Sept. 19.
And showers on Monday and maybe even Tuesday. And for all those days, you’re gonna keep the temperatures in the 60s. So it seems like full weather is actually here. I’m also going to tell you to keep your umbrella handy, because well, it can be sprinkling right here. I live a mile outside the village. It can be pouring downtown, which it did on several times. People come back and goes, “Oh, it’s pouring like crazy in the village.” You get up and go, “Where is it?” So, depending on where you are, you might get it a mile down the road, you may not. So, we call that unsettled.
So get ready for fall because it’s coming, get things ready to go. And hopefully the kids had a first good week of school, and we’ll see what happens after that. Right now, the Atlantic is quiet and it has been. Let’s hope it stays that way. Have a good one.” ~ Frank Ward.
