Walton man indicted for alleged violation of order of protection

DELHI - A Walton man, Jarrett L. Griffin, 24, was indicted by the Delaware County Grand Jury on April 24 and subsequently arrested on a warrant, charged with four counts of second-degree criminal contempt and one count of second-degree harassment. The charged crimes are misdemeanors and a violation. Griffin is accused of making a false statement about a person to that person’s place of employment and violating previously issued orders of protection between May 2024 and April 15, 2025. 

Griffin pleaded not guilty to the charges on April 28 and was released after two new orders of protection were issued against him.

In other Delaware County Court cases on April 22:

• Grace E. Archer, 29, Harpursville, pleaded not guilty to criminal charges in two different cases heard by Judge John Hubbard. Archer was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, accused of possessing methamphetamine in the village of Sidney April 30, 2024, and separately charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, accused of driving under the influence on Dec. 31, 2024 in the village of Sidney. Archer was released on recognizance scheduled for a further appearance on July 1.

• Shane E. Johnson, 50, Grand Gorge, pleaded not guilty to a charge of third-degree burglary and third-degree grand larceny. Johnson is accused of unlawfully entering a warehouse on state Route 23 in Roxbury and stealing property with a value in excess of $3,000. 

• Jeremy T. Stafford, 41, Walton, pleaded not guilty to one count of third-degree burglary. Stafford is accused of unlawfully entering a garage with the intent to commit a crime on Dec. 30, 2023 in the town of Walton. Stafford was released on recognizance.

• Mercedes T. Torres, 30, Oneonta, pleaded not guilty to two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Torres is accused of possessing cocaine in the village of Sidney on Oct. 1, 2024. Torres was released on recognizance.
