Walton Historical Society (WHS) administration and members hope to see many at the WHS booth at the Delaware County Fair Aug. 12 - 17.
This year’s fair display will be themed: The Cannonsville Reservoir, which has become a very popular topic over the summer. There will be many photo albums and other things to sit down and browse through, and Mike Schowe has put together an informative slide show that will run continuously each day of the week.
While you are at the fair get yourself a 2025 Walton Historical Society calendar, “Ads of Yesteryear from 1900” and a White Rock t-shirt.
Sept. 14, our ever-popular “If Gravestones Could Talk,” living cemetery history tour returns. Tour times are 1 p.m. and 2:15 p.m., cost is $10 per person, and those attending can either walk or ride a trolley on the day of the event.
Eight prominent folks will be portrayed from our community. Actors and actress will be explaining what their lives were like and who they were. Tickets can be purchased at www.waltonhistoricalsociety.org or at The Eells House, 9 Townsend Street, Fridays 2-6 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and at the fair booth at the Delaware County Fair.
After a hugely successful 2023 event, the second annual Walton Fall Market sponsored by WHS will return Oct. 12. This year we will host over 75 vendors and feature everything from antiques, collectibles, baked goods, farmer markets, jewelry makers, woodworkers, and many more. A full day of entertainment is scheduled, at least five food trucks with covered seating, and so much more. This is a rain-or-shine event at the Delaware County Fairgrounds; $2 admission, free parking, and under 12 admitted free.
If you would like to be a vendor that day email waltonhistoricalsociety@outlook.com for a vendor form and more info. We hope you that you can make it to one or all of the events occurring in the next three months or stop at the Eells House, 9 Townsend Street, on Fridays from 2-6 p.m. or Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a visit and - see our Made in Walton display that runs until the end of August.
