Walton CS GSA and Student Council To Host Color Run 5K

Colorful Community fun run on June 13 celebrates inclusion and raises funds for LGBTQIA+ youth

Walton Central School’s Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) and Student Council are partnering to host a Color Run 5K on Saturday, June 13 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. on the school cross country course. The event is open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities, all are welcome to join in the fun.

Participants will run a 5K route while volunteers throw colorful chalk on them creating a festive and lively event that turns every finisher into a walking rainbow. All registered paid runners will receive an event T-shirt. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Delaware County Pride will have a table on site with information and resources.

Registration is $25 per adult and $20 for children 12 and under. Children 7 and under run free. All profits will be donated to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Trevor Project, a leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services for LGBTQIA+ young people.

The organizing students are actively seeking business sponsors and volunteers to help make the event a success. Local businesses interested in supporting the Color Run and demonstrating their commitment to an inclusive Delaware County can have their logos detailed on the event tshirt or social media posts. Potential sponsors are encouraged to reach out before June 6. Volunteers are also needed on the day of the event to help with chalk, snack and water stations.
