Walton’s First Friday this week and - it’s supposed to be good weather! Come stroll through Walton to find fall specials in the convenient extra hours of 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct 6.

Walton Fall Cemetery clean up started Oct. 1. Folks have until Sunday, Oct. 15 to remove spring and summer decorations. Anything that remains after that time will be removed by staff.

The Walton Historical Society is excited to host its first annual Walton Fall Market at the fairgrounds Saturday, Oct. 7, starting at 10 a.m. Admission cost $2, and over 40 vendors, activities for kids, entertainment, and more. I’m excited to see this fall market expanded again at the fairgrounds. The colors should be just about peak by then, as they have really changed this week. On Tuesday, they seemed to explode in color, even changing from our ride to Binghamton, to the ride back. Of course, the sunshine sure helps them shine and Sunday was a perfect day.

The Walton Central School Class of ‘65 is sponsoring a Wilson’s Chicken BBQ at Walton Motors, Delaware Street, Saturday, Oct. 7, to benefit The James Sherwood Scholarship Fund. Sherwood was a beloved English and Latin teacher at WCS. For well over 20 years, the Class of ‘65 has given a $300 dollar scholarship which has been matched by Dollars for Scholars to a senior entering the field of education. This fundraiser enables them to continue to fund the scholarship, so go buy some chicken, honor a special teacher and help send a kid to college.

Chair yoga is a form of exercise which helps older adults exercise without putting pressure on joints. It may be beneficial those who have difficulty with balance and may reduce the fear of falling, as well as help people who are not used to exercising to begin improving their strength and balance.

Movements typically involve sitting in the chair while stretching and holding poses or standing and using the chair for balance. Classes are free and will be taught by Jennifer LePinnet Clark, DPT and trained yoga instructor. No registration is required so come to one or come to all. If you have any questions call the church secretary at 607-865-4066. It’s never too late to start to get stronger and healthier.
