The Open Eye Theater Holiday Event

The Open Eye Theater in Margaretville is presenting three family friendly holiday events running through Dec. 21.

Dec. 12 - 15 - ”It’s a Wonderful Life, A Live Radio Play”

From December 12-15, “It’s a Wonderful Life, a Live Radio Play,” adapted by Joe Landry, and based on the story The Greatest Gift by Philip Van Doren Stern. Most folks are familiar with the film starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. The plot is the same. An angel shows George Bailey just how much his life matters. Six actors and one musician give voice to the more than 40 characters and perform all the sound effects.

Performers include Elizabeth Burdick, Parker Cross, David Dancyger, John Exter, Lisa Ruth Mays, Nadya Rockefeller, and Elizabeth Sherr. Michelle Macau, directs. Dec. 12, 13, 14 - Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 15, matinee at 3 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students, Friday only is Pay-What-You-Will.

Dec. 21 - “Gabriel Grubb and the Goblins”

On Winter Solstice, Saturday, Dec. 21 at 5 p.m. its “Gabriel Grubb and The Goblins.” Based on Charles Dickens’ The Goblins Who Stole a Sexton, and adapted by James Yeara, the story, from The Pickwick Papers, is about the sexton Gabriel Grubb, who comforts himself by digging a grave, “a Christmas box” as he calls it, until the King of the Goblins shows him the error of his ways. This story is a precursor of A Christmas Carol and was written seven years earlier.

Performers include Hannah Connelly, Parker Cross, Paul Eisemann, Michelle Macau, and Nadya Rockefeller. Parker Cross, directs. Tickets are Pay-What-You-Will, suggested $10.
