The Oneonta Community Concert Band will present its annual “Good Ol’ Summertime in Winter Concert” in the auditorium at Oneonta Senior High School Sunday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public, with donations gratefully accepted.
Kerri Hogle, director of the Cooperstown High School Band, will conduct.
Presenters said that this year’s theme is “Music to Warm You Up,” with selections that feature warm climates, fire, and fast action. Included are Sousa’s “Manhattan Beach,” medleys from James Bond, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Gladiator movies; “Sunset at Red Rocks” by Gregory Bush, “Blazing Fury” by David Shaffer, “The Inferno” by Robert W. Smith, and Howard Hanson’s classic “Chorale and Alleluia.” Hogle has also programmed Ted Ricketts’ “And the Fire Raged!” to honor those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires.
According to board president Bryan Del Bene, the band has been an Oneonta institution since the 1850s.
