Stamford Library to host guitar workshop series

Posted

Stamford Library, 117 Main Street, has announced an upcoming classical guitar workshop series with local guitarist and musician Drew Azzinaro. The 10-week “Guitar in the Mountains” series will begin Monday, Feb. 26 from 4 to 5 p.m. and classes will continue every Monday from 4 to 5 p.m.

Whether prospective students are beginners or if they have been playing for years but want to improve their guitar skills and knowledge and would like a chance to play with others, this class will be helpful.

Series participants will learn the fundamentals of finger-picking and flat-picking, increase chord and scale vocabulary, improve rhythm, and learn to improvise while performing blues, classic rock, and classical pieces.

Every student will have parts created for their skill level, specifically designed to help them learn and grow. Participants will make music during every class and the series will culminate in a concert performance.

Classes are free and open to those age 6 and up. Adults are welcome and encouraged. Participants need to provide their own acoustic guitars with nylon or steel strings.

To preregister (strongly encouraged) stop at the library or call 607.652.5001. For more information visit StamfordLibraryNY.org

Azzinaro recently moved to the Catskills from Buffalo where he has been a staple of the music scene for 15 years. He splits his time between performing and music education. For more information visit www.drewazzinaro.com
