A celebration of music, movement and imagination will take place in the heart of the Catskills on Saturday, June 21, as the Community Music Network hosts Family Fun Day from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at The Function at Catskills Junction, 28 Railroad Avenue in Stamford. The event is free and open to all, rain or shine.

Designed as a multi-generational afternoon of entertainment, Family Fun Day will feature live performances, storytelling, traditional games, and an interactive clown workshop. The event is part of the Community Music Network’s mission to strengthen rural communities through shared musical experiences.

The festivities begin at 12:30 p.m. with Miss Pam’s Jamboree, an interactive music session for young children and their caregivers led by Community Music Network founder Pamela West-Finkle. Singing, egg-shaking, dancing with scarves and a lullaby finale aim to engage children from birth to age seven.

At 1:30 p.m., Story Laurie—a fixture on the regional storytelling circuit and named Best Children’s Performer by Hudson Valley Magazine—will take the stage to deliver songs and tales from around the globe, blending homespun charm with educational storytelling.

Musician and educator Bobby Curious follows at 2:30 p.m. with a performance that mixes traditional American folk music with global songs, interactive games, and acoustic instruments ranging from ukulele to banjo. Known for his humorous and participatory style, Curious has spent three decades introducing children to the power of music.

For older children, an improvisation and clowning workshop led by performer Marisa Caruso will begin at 3:30 p.m. Geared for ages 7–12, the session includes theater games and physical comedy exercises designed to spark creativity and confidence. Caruso, co-founder of the Hill People’s Comedy Fest, is a frequent collaborator with regional arts programs.

Throughout the afternoon, The Dragon Wagon Book Bus will be on site offering a free book to each child. Run by DeLancey-based duo Billy Hancock and Tracey West—author of the New York Times bestselling Dragon Masters series—the traveling bookshop also stocks a curated collection of titles for children and teens. West will be available for book signings.

Games including sack races, water balloon tosses, and spoon races will be held between stage acts, with Hancock serving as emcee. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs. Light refreshments will be available for purchase.
