WALTON - Armed with gloves, garbage bags, rakes and a shared sense of purpose, volunteers turned out Sunday, April 26, for the village’s annual litter pluck and cleanup, transforming streets and storefronts in a show of civic pride.
Participants spread across the village, collecting trash, clearing sidewalks, planting flowers and freshening up business fronts ahead of the spring season. The effort reflected a coordinated push to present Walton at its best as warmer weather approaches.
The day also included a bike safety inspection hosted in partnership with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, which distributed free helmets to local riders, adding a public safety element to the event. Bike registration is ongoing at the Walton Police Department on Mead Street, officials said.
By day’s end, the visible results were immediate: cleaner streets, brighter storefronts and a renewed sense of ownership among those who call the village home.
