Sidney: Public Hearing on Fire and Building Code Updates July 21

SIDNEY — Sidney trustees scheduled a public hearing on the proposed repeal and replacement of Sidney’s building and fire prevention codes at a meeting held Monday, June 23.

The proposed local law will update and consolidate Chapter 81, “Building Construction and Fire Prevention,” and repeal Chapter 84, “Buildings Unsafe,” of the village code. The change will align Sidney’s regulations with New York State’s Uniform Code, officials said.

The public hearing is scheduled for Monday, July 21 at 7 p.m. immediately before the regularly scheduled meeting.

Copies of the proposed law are available to the public by contact the village clerk’s office.

In other business, trustees authorized the purchase and installation of additional security cameras at Keith Clark Park due to ongoing vandalism.
