SIDNEY - As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, the Sidney Memorial Library is launching a yearlong series of history programs examining the Revolutionary War in New York State.

The next installment will be presented Saturday, May 23, at 2 p.m. in the library’s Smart Community Room. Local historian Scott Payne will speak on “General Washington’s Continental A-Team: The Original B.A. (Benedict Arnold),” a program focused on key figures and military campaigns that shaped the Revolutionary War in the region.

The series will continue on an alternating-month schedule through November.

The library will be closed Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.

Alongside the history programming, the library continues to offer a range of recurring community activities, including baby storytime sessions, preschool and school-age children’s programs, quilting and photography groups, a book club, and adult trivia.
