The Big Rigs Day was held Saturday, Aug. 5 at Cullman Child Development Center. The day was a great success and the winner of the child’s ride on truck, Angie Nitto. Families enjoyed the many activities through out the day. Cullman Director, Amy Williams says plans are underway for next year’s Free Summer Event Series.

The Sidney Pool closes Aug. 26. The hours for the remainder of the season are Monday through Friday, open swim 2 to 5 p.m. (Ages 10 years and older can come alone. Adult swim,  5 to 6 p.m. - no one under 18; 6 to 8 p.m. family swim; Saturday and Sunday open Swim 2 to  5 p.m. Adult swim 5 to 6 p.m. (no one under 18) family swim 6 to 8 p.m. (18 & older needs to be present) At 10 of each hour anyone in the pool must exit so the lifeguards can get a 10 minute break.

In Stitches Quilting Group meets Monday, Aug. 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Smart Community Room. All level quilters are welcome to join.

Gateway Alliance Church is having a God’s Faithfulness Retreat with Christian Author and Speaker Esther Lovejoy Saturday, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Rotary Club of Sidney will have a meeting Friday, Aug. 25 at noon at St. Luke’s Church, West Main Street. Program guests will be Sidney High School Wrestling Coach Tony Ferrara and Bella Phelps, a seventh grade wrestler last year who won the 2023 MAWA Eastern National championship.

Catholic Charities of Delaware, Otsego and Schoharie counties, first floor of the Civic Center, 21 Liberty Street, are having an August food drive and will be collecting non-perishable food items leading up to National Food Bank Day, Sept. 1. Non-perishable food may be left along with monetary donations during office hours Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Closed for lunch 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. New hours take effect Sept. 11.

The Unadilla Public Library presents Summer Reading Program Story time every Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 31. Story time is open to all ages, but is geared to those up to 7 years. A craft project will be offered after story time.

The library will present a bike and ATV Safety program presented by Trooper Hartz Thursday, Aug. 17 at 1 p.m.

Reservations are due Aug. 21 for the Unadilla Chamber of Commerce annual dinner and awards. Respond by calling Linda Bickos 607-369-2614 if you plan to attend the dinner Sunday, Oct. 1. The event will be held at Far View Farms, Rod and Gun Club Road. Business of the year being honored is Village Bountiful Community Market, Good Neighbor Award to Robert Gibson and Commitment to Community Award goes to Mayor Jake Cotton. 

Household Hazardous Waste Day will be held Friday, Aug. 25 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Unadilla Highway Building, 216 Co Hwy 3. Materials accepted are paint, pesticides, solvents, mercury, chemical cleaners, batteries, antifreeze, hobby and pool chemicals, fluorescent light bulbs.
