Ronald C. Hayden, 89, of Downsville passed away on Thursday, Dec. 22, at Delaware Valley Hospital, following a long illness. Ron was born Oct. 13, 1933 in Long Eddy, the son of the late Carl and Ella (Hughes) Hayden. On May 3, 1953 he married the former Germaine Babcock. He was a graduate of Callicoon High School. Ron loved working as a stone cutter and did it most of his adult life until he was 82. He also loved spending time outside and in the woods hunting and fishing. Ron was a family man who loved taking care of his family and friends. Ron is survived by his loving family, his wife, Germaine Hayden of Downsville; son and daughter in law, Randy (Olga) Hayden of Binghamton; grandchildren, Carl (Christina) Hayden, Marc Hayden, Julien Vasquez, sister-in-law, Linda Northrup, favorite nephew, Robert Babcock, favorite niece, Haley Card, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughters, Rhonda Hayden and Lori Bennett. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, Dec. 29, 22 from 2 - 4 p.m. at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 30 at 11 a.m. at the Colchester Community Church, 15151 State Highway 30, Downsville with Lay-Eucharistic Minister Scott Gladstone, officiating.
