Riding with Purpose: Nam Knights rev up support for veterans and police

Posted

WALTON - In the Southern Tier, which includes Delaware County, the Nam Knights of America Motorcycle Club is known for much more than their bikes. Part of a national organization with 84 chapters across the U.S. and Canada, this fraternal club unites military veterans, law enforcement officers, and “patriots” dedicated to supporting both local and national causes. For the Nam Knights, the ride is more than camaraderie — it’s a mission of service.

Locally, the Southern Tier Chapter actively supports families of veterans and police officers, and assists in community welfare projects. Recent initiatives include donating to the Walton Toy Bank, providing food pantries with over 8,000 pounds of food each year, and building handicap ramps for veterans in need. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they distributed 6,000 masks to area schools, and every winter, they supply hundreds of hats and mittens to local students.

For members like those in Walton, honoring fallen veterans and law enforcement goes hand-in-hand with local service projects. Each year, the Nam Knights purchase flags to adorn veterans’ graves at the Walton Cemetery, a gesture symbolizing respect for those who served. Their dedication also extends to the Oxford Veterans’ Home, where they’ve delivered electric razors, fishing equipment, and even robotic pets for residents in the memory care unit.

They’re part of a brotherhood focused on giving back and keeping alive the spirit of those who served.
