Congressman Marc Molinaro representing New York’s 19th Congressional District, announced an essay writing contest for young students in New York’s 19th Congressional District.

In 400 words or less, Representative Molinaro’s writing prompt asks students: “If you were President for a day, what would you do?” Students in third, fourth, and fifth grade in New York’s 19th Congressional District are eligible to enter the contest and a winner will be chosen from each grade. This contest gives young students a chance to practice their writing skills, use their creativity, and learn more about government and the presidency.

Molinaro said, “What would you do if you were president for a day? Would you make Pizza Friday every day? Would you build playgrounds accessible to those with disabilities? I want to hear from students across Upstate New York on what they would do if they were the leader of the free world. I’m excited to have students participate and submit their essays for this competition.”

Essays must be submitted by March 15 and must include the student’s first and last name, school, and grade, along with their parent or guardian’s contact information. Essays can be submitted by email to Congressman.Molinaro@mail.house.gov with the subject line ‘Writing Contest’ or by mail to: Attn: President for a Day Writing Contest, Office of Rep. Marcus J. Molinaro, PO Box 615, Leeds, NY 12451

Questions about the contest can be directed to Molinaro’s office at 518-625-2100.
