Peter T. Curtin, 88, of Walton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford following a long illness.
Peter was born Aug. 28, 1934, in Jamaica, L.I., the son of the late Peter W. and Lillian (Hensler) Curtin. He played high school football for Walton. Following graduation at Walton High school, he was a pinsetter at local bowling alleys. He was an avid bowler throughout his life. He worked for Amphenol for 47 years, first as a punch press operator and later was a group leader and internal grinder in the tool room.
On Dec. 9, 1955, he married the former Beverly Finch in Walton.
Peter proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959.
Peter was a faithful member of the Northfield Community Church. He loved his family and spent as much time with them as he could. He enjoyed bowling, watching NASCAR, hunting, and fishing in the ocean. He loved camping, bonfires, western movies, and football games, traveling many miles rooting for the Walton Warriors, and playing solitaire. He also loved his weekends with Bev, snowmobiling in the countryside. Every year he looked forward to a trip to Galveston, Texas with his brother, Jim. No matter where he was or what he was doing you would find him with his trusty pipe or a toothpick in his mouth. Peter is survived by his loving family, his wife Beverly, children Christopher (Joyce) Curtin of Franklin, Carla (Jamie) Green of Walton, Timothy Curtin of Wells Bridge and Todd (Belinda) Curtin of Walton; grandchildren Peter (Tammy), Ben, Dylan, Timmy (Jordan), Emilee (Kris) Lander, Katelynn, Shane and Nathan (Ashley); great-grandchildren Sierra, Nathen, Aubrie, Maddelynn, Arabella, Donovan and Brinlee; brother James Curtin of Walton, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother Charles Curtin.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. with full military honors at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton, with Pastor Randy Palada, officiating.
