NYSPHSAA welcomes Bartlett as association president

LATHAM - Russell Bartlett, superintendent of Tupper Lake Central School District (Section X), officially took over as the 51st president of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Sept. 1. Bartlett begins a two-year term (2022-2024) as president after serving as an officer for the previous four years (2018-2022).

Adam Stoltman of Alden Central School District (Section VI) began his term Thursday, Sept. 1 as a NYSPHSAA officer in the role of second vice president. Tim Mullins of Bayport-Blue Point (Section XI) moves into the role of first vice president. Mullins served as second vice president for the last two years. Julie Bergman (Section IV) transitioned from president (2020-2022) to the role of past president for the next two years and Paul Harrica (Section X) completed his eight years of service to the association as the outgoing past president.

Bergman is a former student-athlete at Binghamton High School (Section IV) and has been an educator for nearly 31 years. She previously worked at Franklin Central School District, Walton Central School District and Delaware Academy and Central School District at Delhi, all in Section IV. Currently, she is the middle school/high school principal at the Hancock Central School District.

“Serving as president of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association for the past two years has been an unimaginable experience,” said Bergman. “I am grateful to have had the opportunity to advocate for student-athletes throughout the state during these unprecedented times. As we begin the 100th anniversary celebration of the NYSPHSAA, I look forward to continued success.”

All NYSPHSAA officers serve an eight year term on a voluntary basis.

The current NYSPHSAA officers are:

• President – Russell Bartlett (Section X)

• 1st Vice President – Tim Mullins (Section XI)

• 2nd Vice President –Adam Stoltman (Section VI)

• Past President – Julie Bergman (Section IV)
