MIDDLETOWN - New York State Police report a Middletown couple, John C. Guidice, 68 and Joyce R. Guidice, 67, were struck by a vehicle on New Kingston Road, Aug. 2 shortly before 7 p.m.  Joyce Guidice died at the scene, despite life-saving measures performed by emergency medical services personnel.

John Guidice was transported to Margaretville Hospital by ambulance for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

It was reported, according to a press release issued by troopers, that the vehicle that struck the couple did not stop.

A Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputy located a vehicle with front end damage that matched the vehicle that left the area, approximately 10 miles away on state Highway 28 in Bovina.  The operator was identified as a 70 year old male from Staten Island. The operator was interviewed by New York State Police Investigators and an investigation is on-going.
