Metal Meets Mayhem in First Night of Delaware County Fair Demolition Derby

WALTON - Engines roared and steel crumpled Monday, Aug. 11 as the 138th Delaware County Fair kicked off its first night of demolition derby competition with 57 entries.

In the compacts division, John Kemp took first place, followed by Dereck Bowie. Benjamin Conrow earned the “Mad Dog” award for aggressive driving.

The eight-cylinder class saw Austin Williams capture the win, Dawson Gregory take second, and Scott Barnhart named “Mad Dog.” Jeffrey Shelton Jr. placed third.

In the four-cylinder feature, Jacob Fisher claimed first place ahead of Korey Fisher, with Kyle Utter taking “Mad Dog” honors and Nate Dean finishing third.

Cole Rifanburg topped the eight-cylinder feature, followed by Reed Scott in second and “Mad Dog” Logan Robinson. Tristen Rifanburg placed third.

The four-cylinder chain-and-bang event was won by Skyler Maryon, with Joe LaTourette in second and “Mad Dog” Steven Mattson.

In V8 chain-and-bang action, Blake Mikos took the top spot, William McNamara came in second, and Richie Biagi claimed “Mad Dog” status.

Reed Scott later secured victory in the V8 feature, with Cole Rifanburg in second and Austin Williams named “Mad Dog.”

Special honors went to Jeff Shelton, who received the Colton Church Memorial Sportsman Award, and Hannah Rosley was awarded the Lillivene Terry Memorial Sportsman Award. Best painted car honors went to Nate Juron and Paul Harrington.
